Hofstra University students gathered on March 30th to protest the Thomas Jefferson statue in the front of their Student Center. Protesters argued that Jefferson was a symbol for white supremacy and rape culture. Counter protesters were also present and argued in favor of keeping the statue on the grounds that Jefferson was a founding father and his impact on America far outweighs his shortcomings.
